Tereza Severová is a visual artist who can speak to viewers via suggestive images. But she is also an artist–researcher. She considers art as one of the tools for describing and understanding the world in which we live. She believes that through its specific means, art can contribute to answering the fundamental questions we ask ourselves about the nature of the world. The contemporary visual is at the center of her interest. In her work, she tries to reveal its principles and mechanisms, using the experience gained in the film post-production field. Employing new media becomes her technical background and the subject of her research. The analysis of the language of cinema and its specific tools assist Severová in exploring how modern technologies are inscribed in our perception, and recent years in particular, in the way we perceive the contemporary landscape. In Notes on Landscape, she presents a selection of works created between 2016 and 2022. The exhibition is not a retrospective, however; it is more of an open-ended scrapbook that gives us a glimpse, through compelling images, of where Severová has moved in her artistic research. Above all, it draws our attention to the mechanisms that affect our view of the world around us.
