With her costumes, Andrea Králová co-created the look of many Czech films and television projects. Her work illustrates the content of those films and evokes an idea of contemporary visuality. Through her clothing, she is able to distinguish individual characters and suggest their tastes, aspirations, ambitions, social status, class, or political orientation. In addition to film productions, she has also designed stage sets and costumes for dozens of theatre productions, including collaborating with Cheb Theatre. She is also a long-term lecturer in scenography at the Department of Alternative and Puppet Theatre at DAMU in Prague. During her work over the years, she has collected many garments and accessories in compiling her personal archive — a fraction of which is now presented in the Cheb exhibition. Focusing on the period from the 1960s to the 1980s, it corresponds to the time span of the Retromuseum exhibition, which she also participated in preparing. This period is a particular favourite of the artist, and with her own sense of humour, she often highlights certain of its bizarre aspects.
